Project:

As part of the Environmental Justice in Tech summer fellowship, Arpan developed an interactive workshop on using geospatial tools for storytelling around environmental justice issues. During Climate Week NYC 2024,  Arpan delivered this workshop to youth attendees in partnership with Brooklyn Public Library, trubel&co, and Earth Hacks.

The workshop description was as follows:
Explore the powerful intersection of environmental justice and technology in this interactive Geospatial Learning Lab, tailored specifically for young advocates aged 16-25. During this hands-on workshop, participants will dive into the world of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), gaining practical skills to map out environmental challenges and analyze data in ways that promote equity and justice. With real-world examples and expert guidance, you’ll learn how to harness cutting-edge geospatial tools to visualize and address pressing environmental issues, empowering you to become an advocate for change in your own community.
